So along with us 3 working theres Karolis, whose a guy, very good looking, and really only helps on that first session of outdoor play. He’s good to have around because he can yell at the kids. Gabriele (like Gabriel-hey) is the daughter of the boss Daiva. She teaches art. Shes the typical perfect 10 lithuanian girl, in college, etc. Now for some kids. Emilis is 8, boy, my fav right now. He’s rowdy and spicy like most American boys. Good at sports, hates school, will be good looking in the future. He was the first out of all the kids to speak English to us. Hes a lot of fun but does cause trouble. He is in the same group with Richardas. Richardas has grown on me and may surpass Emilis in terms of favorites. He speaks English reallllly well and I asked how he learned and he said from cartoon network. You can tell he didn’t learn from lessons because he’ll say things like gimme da ball instead of proper give me the ball like everyone else. He acts as my translator. Hes funny cuz he is missing teeth and has this goofy, carefree grin like hes untouchable. And he rocks the man capris. Going along on the guy theme, tautvitas .. that’s not how its really spelled but that’s the phonetic, is adorable. I played soccer with him for over an hour today and he was in my language class. He speaks well and is in the advanced class. I say hes adorable cuz he has huge eyes and when we’re outside he wears this black and white camo fishermans hat. Hes a good kid though, no trouble here. For girls, Danielle speaks English and has attached herself to me. Shes short, chubby, glasses, you know the type. And she doesn’t leave me alone. Elena is just precious. Like an angel. She helps me out a lot. Saule is really tall and blond and fun cuz she plays soccer and like to help me with my pronunciation. Most of them love correcting me though. They all teach me lots of things. We’ll be sitting in the shade after a game and they will go through and teach me words like colors, and things they can easily point to like grass, shoes, etc. They make me say it in English, they repeat it in English, say it in Lithuanian, make me repeat it in Lithuanian, and we quiz each other. I suck. But its amazing that these kids, youngest at 7, are speaking English. How many American kids are learning a foreign language when in second grade…. Not a lot. But these kids are a lot of fun… lot of work, but a lot of fun too. Theres 42 and I could write about all of them if I could remember their names. Titas… Kristopas, Rocas (who although the name sounds tough, is the smallest boy and reminds me of a duck) donotas, theres like 4 dominiquas, both boys and girls, etc. theres a girl who looks like lee lee sobieski that im trying to sneak a picture of… I’m sure there will be more to develop with these kids. Theres one girl who I refer to as Elvira because I believe she is the daughter of the devil. All Lithuanian girls are beautiful, and she is not. She looks like a bad halloween costume. Like someone showered her in white powder then drew big circles around her eyes. She has stick straight hair and never smiles. I dont know her name because I refuse to talk to her. I mean... I dont know if American counter curses would work in Lithuania, but I'm not going to give her the chance to put a hex on me just because I want to talk to her. No way, I'm not taking that chance.
And here are some pics...
